Test Details

Use

This test is used to determine the immune status of individuals to the varicella zoster virus (VZV) and offer documentation of previous infection with VZV in an individual without a documented history of completion of the VZV vaccination series.

Limitations

Routine testing for varicella immunity following vaccination is unnecessary because commercially available VZV IgG assays are not sensitive enough to detect all seroconversions after a vaccination.

Methodology

Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA)
