Labcorp DCT representation at ARCS, Medidata NEXT, DIA and more – July 2022

Welcome to the July 2022 Labcorp Drug Development Decentralized Clinical Trial (DCT) blog. This month, we are going to review our recent presence at several important industry events and provide you with links to a new case study and a just-released video about our snapClinical® technology platform.

It has been a busy few months, and we have been excited to get back out to live, in-person industry conferences as the global COVID-19 situation improves. However, as you will see, the specter of the pandemic is still present, as our plans continue to be adjusted dynamically to promote the safety of speakers and attendees. We were very pleased to sponsor the Dynamic Global Events 6th Virtual Clinical Trials Conference in Philadelphia in May. Kurt Lumsden, head of our Mobile Clinical Services Global Operations, was able to attend and present on migrating to more patient-centric trial designs through appropriate use of technology and remote services. We were also represented in Australia at the ARCS Annual Conference at the end of May. Our panelist, Linda Ross, associate director for DCT strategy based in New Zealand, was forced to attend remotely due to a COVID-19 isolation that affected her. Fortunately, just as we can conduct trial visits remotely, she was able to participate via web conference to discuss the latest strategies and solutions for improving patient and site experiences. Becoming agile and resilient is a part of how we work these days, and we thank the organizers of the conference for their flexibility!

Clare Campbell, a senior director of strategy and solutions in our clinical development organization, had the opportunity to take part in Medidata’s NEXT event in Basel. Here is what she had to say about it:

“I attended the Medidata NEXT Conference, which was a wonderful and enlightening experience. Not only was it an opportunity to talk face to face, it was also a great chance to discuss groundbreaking technologies and processes. The panel was focusing on sensors, how they have been used and the opportunities that we have to progress decentralization of clinical trials and increase patient focus. I joined Jonathan Palmer and Paul O’Donohoe from Medidata and Aman Bhatti from AliveCor where it was interesting to hear different perspectives and knowledge on how sensors can be deployed within clinical research. I would highly recommend attending a Medidata NEXT Conference to increase understanding of DCT and to meet colleagues and peers that have an interest in technology.”

Last but not least, Kurt was able to present in person at the DIA Global Annual Meeting in Chicago, expanding on patient-centricity as well as on how to improve enrollment using DCT strategies. While DIA as an event was attended more lightly than in some past years, we had great attendance at Kurt’s talk. While we are on the topic of DIA, we had anticipated attending the DIA China Meeting, but it has been postponed until this fall due to COVID-19. We are looking forward to participating when conditions permit.

More and more, we are asked to provide case studies describing how the evolving suite of patient-centric tools connects to improve the experiences of patients, sites and sponsors. One recently released case study details how moving beyond point solutions to a more integrative digital platform using interoperable tools is allowing us to accelerate trial progress and improve the trial experience.
