Raising the voices in colon cancer screening
With proper screening, early detection of colorectal cancer often leads to a cure. Since the 1980s, incidents of colorectal cancer have declined—in fact, from 2011 to 2019, incidents dropped by about 1% each year. These promising statistics demonstrate the power of preventive screening.
Yet it’s still the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States and almost 153,000 people will be diagnosed in 2023 alone.
As new age guidelines emerge and more cases appear in people under 60, Labcorp and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance have teamed up to hear from 2,000 people who need screenings—working to identify where the barriers lie.
The survey focused on looking at consumer perceptions of colorectal cancer screenings to learn how to inspire action. This research brings surprising insights that shed light on:
- Where the gaps and barriers lie
- What types of screenings consumers prefer
- The companies and influencers they trust for information
- How we can better influence action through our messaging and education
